Welcome back, Falcons!

Knowing our Falcon community, you know we dive right in with every event. Following the success of High School day last Wednesday, here’s the NBT: The SOHS Blood Drive!

A blood drive is a great way to give back to the community and help save lives. Blood cannot be made, so the only way to save someone in need of blood is to use donations! Silver Oak is ready to give back to the community. Partnering with the Red Cross, our school is hoping to collect about 50 units of blood, you can help us reach that goal!

Our blood drive will have two options, normal blood donation, and Power Red. Power Red is an alternative donation method which uses a special machine to take your blood. The machine takes two units of red blood cells, then return all your plasma and platelets to your body. Platelets are the component of your blood that help continue to produce blood, which means Power Red could actually less stressful on your body.

You must be at least 16 years old to donate. To be eligible you must also meet a number of other requirements, such as meeting the height to weight ratio, travel requirements, and more. For more details, please see Ms. W or any of our blood drive volunteers!

Even if you cannot donate yourself, whether you aren’t old enough, or don’t meet some of the requirements, you can still help! Spread the word to your friends and family, and get them to donate! Encourage your classmates who are eligible!

To sign up for the blood drive on Wednesday, January 31st between 9:45am-3:30pm, please e-mail Ms. W at marley@silveroakmontessori.org

There is always a way to help, thanks for doing so!
